Walk This Mountain Down: Lyrics

In My Wildest Dreams

Written by Donna Ulisse
©2009 Uncle Hadley Music (ASCAP)

Everyday the sun comes up
After I've had my second cup
I've already made the bed and showered and straightened the house
Water the plants on the windowsill
Stretch a few dollars and pay on some bills
Clock in at work, clock out and drive home completely wiped out
Turn on the evening news, fix something to eat
Put my call into momma then turn down the sheets

CHORUS:
In my wildest dreams I'm runnin' free
In a field of colorful flowers dancin' 'round me
And there's nothin' I can't do, no one I can't be
In my wildest dreams

Who knew the unknown could make my heart fly
But that's how I feel when I close my eyes
There's no kind of burden or trouble, there's nothin' that's pullin' at me
I lose my conscience and let myself go
And I don't let worry anywhere close
I'm so far away from the everyday grind and my boring routine
I know that alarm will sound and bring me back down to earth
But for a few precious hours I'm free as a bird

CHORUS:
In my wildest dreams I'm runnin' free
In a field of colorful flowers dancin' 'round me
And there's nothin' I can't do, no one I can't be
In my wildest dreams

Poor Mountain Boy

Written by Donna Ulisse and Rick Stanley

She wanted lots of money, you thought you'd live on love
Her sights were set on city lights, to you the moon was bright enough
You craved a simple life, she craved a party crowd
You wanted her to stay right there and she just wanted out

CHORUS:
Poor mountain boy how you tried
But your way of life's not what she had in mind
A little run down cabin you always meant to fix
On a hundred rocky acres down on sandy ridge
Sad mountain boy, poor mountain boy
Sad mountain boy, poor mountain boy

Her dreams were always higher than the tallest hemlock pine
She was always gonna leave that lonesome mountain side
But you never did quit tryin' and now she's finally gone
There's no way you can win her back, it's hard to just move on

CHORUS:
Poor mountain boy how you tried
But your way of life's not what she had in mind
A little run down cabin you always meant to fix
On a hundred rocky acres down on sandy ridge
Sad mountain boy, poor mountain boy
Sad mountain boy, poor mountain boy

Tag
Too bad mountain boy, you poor mountain boy

Dust to Dust

Written by Donna Ulisse and Marc Rossi
©2009 Uncle Hadley Music / Marc My Words Music (ASCAP)

I am part of Adam created on day six
With a handful of dirt and the breath of God
The apple of temptation still lures me like a snake
Defiance is our thread and faith our rock
I'm mortal now, so little time to learn
God made us out of dust and to dust we shall return

Our kiss was brand new ground, we were a garden green
Filled with promises that both of us broke
And like Adam and Eve, thrown out of paradise
The gates to our forever were closed
Wasted love's that cold, dark hell that burns
God made us out of dust and to dust we shall return

CHORUS:
We shall return to dust where we came from
We shall return to dust when it's all said and done

I can't last a thousand years; I'll have my time to die
But it feels like waking death with you gone
Broken parts of heaven are falling from the sky
And the earth is telling me to carry on
I hold onto this hungry love you spurned
God made us out of dust and to dust we shall return

CHORUS:
We shall return to dust where we came from
We shall return to dust when it's all said and done

Love's Crazy Train

Written by Donna Ulisse and Richard Leigh

They say I'm young and I don't know
How short love lasts, how fast it goes
But I don't care, I'll risk the pain
'Cause I want to ride love's crazy train

He's good and clean, he's tall and fine
Why would he break this heart of mine
I know that he must feel the same
'Cause we meet tonight on love's crazy train

BRIDGE:
If they thought about it twice
Would they have me miss this ride

Roll on, roll on you crazy train
And don't you stop for anything
Even if I should love in vain
Still I'm bound to ride love's crazy train

INSTRUMENTAL SOLO

Roll on, roll on you crazy train
And don't you stop for anything
Even if I should love in vain
Still I'm bound to ride love's crazy train

Even if I should love in vain
Still I'm bound to ride love's crazy train

Walk This Mountain Down

God, He told Moses
Take these words I've set in stone
Move off of this hallowed land
And lead my people home

CHORUS:
Walk down this mountain
Leave your troubles on higher ground
Walk 'til you reach the promised land
Walk this mountain down
Walk this mountain down

Momma always told me
Life's hard on this hillside
If you want more than livin' poor
You gotta leave this ridge behind

CHORUS:
Walk down this mountain
Leave your troubles on higher ground
Walk 'til you reach the promised land
Walk this mountain down
Walk this mountain down

Now when I'm havin' worries
Pilin' heavy upon me
I hear my momma sayin' child
Just leave 'em at God's feet

CHORUS:
Walk down this mountain
Leave your troubles on higher ground
Walk 'til you reach the promised land
Walk this mountain down
Walk this mountain down

The Trouble With You

Written by Donna Ulisse
©2009 Uncle Hadley Music (ASCAP)

I'll tell you flat baby, I'm some part cat
I'll surely scratch when it comes to what's mine
Why you want to taunt me, honey, you don't really want me
Bowin' up and clawin' out some strange girl's eyes
You walk in a room like an accident waitin' to happen
Usin' your smile knowing how it's gonna turn every head
You put me on guard when your baby blues start flashin'
Then I'm blinded by my thoughts that race around in shades of red

CHORUS:
The trouble with you is that you're so good lookin'
And lookin' at you is what the women do
The trouble with me is that I don't trust women
Especially when they're lookin' at the trouble with you

You keep me nervous; I know you're worth it
Don't want to curse it with my runaway mind
Why can't I be thankful 'stead of green-eyed mean and hateful
It's just that I'm so scared you'll be the leavin' kind
You're shinin' like a penny, throwin' your charm 'round the room
Struttin' like a star somewhere in Hollywood
You're actin' like you don't know what your walk's gonna do
While I'm holdin' me in check but I'd rather throw a fit if I could
And I could

CHORUS:
The trouble with you is that you're so good lookin'
And lookin' at you is what the women do
The trouble with me is that I don't trust women
Especially when they're lookin' at the trouble with you

Child of the Great Depression

Written by Donna Ulisse and Marc Rossi

Chicken in the skillet on an old gas stove
Pot full of string beans simmerin' low on the fire
Corn and tomatoes from the garden out back
Buttermilk biscuits on the oven rack risin' higher
Family dinner Sunday afternoon
A way of life Maudie holds on to

CHORUS:
She's a child of the great depression
And she counts it as her greatest lesson
The tired, hungry years, they showed her how
To taste the good, sweet life she's livin' now

She still hangs her laundry out on the line
Does a little bakin' while the clothes are dryin' outside
She don't let anything go to waste
So don't let her catch you throwin' nothin' away, 'specially time
Front porch swingin' when the dishes are done
Tellin' us stories of days long gone

CHORUS:
She's a child of the great depression
And she counts it as her greatest lesson
The tired, hungry years, they showed her how
To taste the good, sweet life she's livin' now

BRIDGE:
Beyond her window all the world has changed
But inside those walls life is still the same

CHORUS:
She's a child of the great depression
And she counts it as her greatest lesson
The tired, hungry years, they showed her how
To taste the good, sweet life she's livin' now

The Key

Written by Donna Ulisse and Rick Stanley
©2009 Uncle Hadley Music / Pop 'N Paw Music

The key to Heaven is not metal, it wasn't made from steel
It was carved out of two cedar wood studs
And it's carried by believers who know the key is real
'Cause we've been freed from sin and sorrow and covered by His blood

The key to Heaven is not hidden in a dark and secret place
You'll find it if you just look His way
Open up your heart and find amazing grace
And He will lead you past your troubles and you'll hold the key today

CHORUS:
The door to Heaven's never locked up to anyone
All it takes is faith to kick the gates wide open
The path to Paradise was blazed
By a man who freely gave His life away
To make the key that unlocks your heart
And leads you straight into the Savior's arms

The key to Heaven is forever once you know what it's about
But you won't hold it in the palm of your hand
'Cause it's carried in your spirit when you know without a doubt
The key to life is knowing Jesus leads you to the promised land

CHORUS:

The door to Heaven's never locked up to anyone
All it takes is faith to kick the gates wide open
The path to Paradise was blazed
By a man who freely gave His life away
To make the key that unlocks your heart
And leads you straight into the Savior's arms

Lovin' Every Minute

Written by Donna Ulisse and Dennis K. Duff

I've traveled down some easy roads; Lord knows I've walked some bad ones
Everyday I sang a new song, sometimes they were sad ones
But I never had to wake up to a sunrise
Without you laying here by my side

CHORUS:
Every tear, every smile
Every memory, every mile has you in it
Your constant love, kept me strong
Every step along the way, every hour of every day
Because of you I can say that I have spent it
Lovin' every minute

I've struggled with some choices, life sure deals out some hard ones
I've crossed a thousand bridges, left behind my share of charred ones
But you believed in me and never once lost faith
And you helped me learn to live with my mistakes

CHORUS:
Every tear, every smile
Every memory, every mile has you in it
Your constant love kept me strong
Every step along the way, every hour of every day
Because of you I can say that I have spent it
Lovin' every minute

Bridge
Someday I'll have to let life go
And when I do I want it set in stone
That%u2026..

CHORUS:
Every tear, every smile
Every memory, every mile has you in it
Your constant love kept me strong
Every step along the way, every hour of every day
Because of you I can say that I have spent it
Lovin' every minute

I Lied

Written by Donna Ulisse and Rick Stanley
©2009 Uncle Hadley Music / Pop 'N Paw Music (ASCAP)

I can't believe I didn't try to make you stay
That I helped you pack your bags and walk away
And laughed as you were pulling out the drive
But the whole time I was torn up deep inside

CHORUS:
Well, I lied, 'cause I cried
When you said goodbye and left me
I said that door will never open once you go
But each night's a fight
'Cause I'm not alright without you
But my pride still doesn't want to let you know

What a cryin' shame I let my hard head rule
Guess it makes me out to be a classic fool
To let you think your leavin' didn't hurt
While my heart is breakin' now for all it's worth

CHORUS:
Well, I lied, 'cause I cried
When you said goodbye and left me
I said that door will never open once you go
But each nights a fight
'Cause I'm not alright without you
But my pride still doesn't want to let you know

These Troubles

Written by Donna Ulisse and Marc Rossi

There's a shameless pink horizon that colors up my vision
As I feel the ground beneath me taking hold
Like the clouds my mind is racing
Though a million thoughts escape me
And my angry heart just hates to watch 'em go
I'll stay here in this place that looks like rain
For as long as I need to feel this pain

CHORUS:
Oh these troubles cover me, a blanket weighin' heavy
Heartache will not let me be, leaves my world unsteady
Oh these troubles, these troubles, maybe I'm not ready
To laugh again, to let life begin and put an end
To all these troubles

The sky's as endless as creation, feeding my imagination
Giving hope to hopeless dreams in shades of blue
But peace of mind takes me for granted
And always leaves me empty handed
With nothing but this hell to hold onto
There'll come a day when all my tears are gone
But today is not the day for moving on

CHORUS:
Oh these troubles cover me, a blanket weighin' heavy
Heartache will not let me be, leaves my world unsteady
Oh these troubles, these troubles, maybe I'm not ready
To laugh again, to let life begin and put an end
To all these troubles

Everything Has Changed

Written by Donna Ulisse and Rick Stanley
©2009 Uncle Hadley Music / Pop ' N Paw Music (ASCAP)

I lived an empty life, I had selfish dreams
And no matter how I tried nothin' worked for me
Something was missing, something was wrong
So I prayed until I found where I belong

CHORUS:
Everything has changed since I found Jesus
I hear singing
In the pourin' rain, on a summer breeze
On the ocean waves, in the falling leaves
Nothin's the same since I found His sweet love
I feel happy
When the moon shines down, in the morning light
When the world is dark, in the quiet night
And I've got peace that comes from knowing that I'll live forevermore
And it's all because I know the Lord

Now my world is full of an endless love
And it saved me just as I was giving up
Well, I still have troubles, I still have fear
But I don't have a doubt that He is always here

Levi Stone

Written by Donna Ulisse and Marc Rossi
©2009 Uncle Hadley Music / Marc My Words Music (ASCAP)

Levi Stone lived by the gospel
He taught his child to do the same
So when his son took sick that winter
He knew he'd be fine once springtime came

The boy grew weaker by the hour
But Levi Stone never lost faith
He told his wife no county doctor
Quit your cryin' woman, kneel down and pray

CHORUS:
Papa, please, a drink of water
Wipe the fever from my brow
Tell these angels all around me
They need to put me down
Papa, you tell them I'm in God's hands now

Death came hard in fourteen sunsets
A woman's wail tore through the sky
And Levi Stone sat by the bedside
Lost and alone, betrayed by God that night

CHORUS:
Papa, please, a drink of water
Wipe the fever from my brow
Tell these angels all around me
They need to put me down
Papa, you tell them I'm in God's hands now

Sixteen years left Levi bitter
He'd lost his son, he lost his wife
The voices whisper, "I'm cold and thirsty"
Well, he lost his mind that winter night

CHORUS:
Papa, please, a drink of water
Wipe the fever from my brow
Tell these angels all around me
They need to put me down
Papa, you tell them I'm in God's hands now
